Band Review

I almost hate to do this review. I saw a band called Big Daddy on Saturday. They were setting up and the guitarist pulled out this awesome custom shop Les Paul that must have cost 5 G's. Then he pulls out a beautiful Gretsch Tennessee Rose. Those sell for a mere $2100. He also had a Lab Series guitar amplifier. I'm not sure the exact model but Lab Series amps are rare. They were a joint venture between Gibson and Moog and were solid state guitar amps known for being very clean. I was thinking theres no way you blow that kind of green on your gear and not know how to really play them. How wrong I was. He couldn't find the chords on simple 1-4-5 progressions. The bass was running through a Behringer guitar amp and sounded like it, yuck. The lead singer also played a conga and a silly little tamborine only I don't think he has any concept of what playing a beat is. The vocals were running through a Behringer PA. I couldn't tell how bad they were as they were completely inaudible. The hilarious part was they actually had a sound man, ha ha ha. That’s like running sound on a cd player only not as complicated. The drummer was sick so they replaced him with the son of one of the band members. He was probobly 15 and was by far the best musician in the band. Well I can't say anything else about them without totally throwing them under the bus. After all we've all been there at one time (not). I stayed for about 3 songs but that is only because I was waiting for the check. Otherwise I would totally recommend going and seeing them, or fleeing for your sanity.
